Evaluation and assessment have been integral to any efforts towards improving the quality of higher education aimed at developing thoughtful, well-rounded, and creative individuals and society. Hence there is a need to critically understand assessment and evaluation in its historic context, contemporary concerns, and the broader purpose of higher education.
The Centre has been conceived to enable HEIs to create motivating, inclusive, and fear-free learning spaces. The programmes designed by the Centre enable teachers to reflect on the difference between assessment as learning, assessment for learning, and assessment of learning. It introduces various methods for formative assessment — a creative and critical process of designing assessment that focuses not on memory and grades, but on enabling learning, reflection and articulation by students.
